Pride in Belonging

19th May 2022

Dear Old Boys

As I look from School House across the Close to Rangitumau, a group of boys are energetically kicking a football around as the Autumn leaves continue to fall. Winter months are around the corner!

So too is Queen's Birthday Weekend and the Decade Reunions. Remember that if your cohort finished at Rathkeale in 1972, 1981, 1992, 2002, and 2012 it's your turn to come back. The 1981 cohort is a deferment from last year and the 1982 cohort has deferred until next year.

Numbers of those attending are once again really reassuring and possibly buoyed by the growing number of St. Matthew's Old Girls joining the weekend.

Often Old Boys say that they weren't too keen about coming back and worried about not knowing anyone. So, after they get to the end of the weekend, they are really pleased they did attend and think the reunions should be more often! Do come along!

Friday 3rd June 2022 - Evening.

5:30 PM Bus Transport leaves Solway Park for Rathkeale. Ask your Year Group Facilitator about other possible pick-up points in Masterton.
6:00 PM Function starts in the Rathkeale Dining Hall
During the evening School minivans can take people back into town.
10:00 PM The main bus departs for town.
If transport is wanted for places further South e.g., Greytown please let your Facilitator know.
ROBA will cover cost of the main bus transport, but the mini vans will probably be driven by tutors who always appreciate a dollar or two!
Wives and partners, St. Matthew's Old Girls, and long serving staff are all welcome.
Cost per head is $25 payable by Eftpos or exact cash amount at the door. This covers drinks and food and is subsidised by ROBA
All Facilitators are invited/expected to say a few words and accept a thank you for work done - this would include SMOGA facilitators if present.
Dress for Friday is usually smart casual although a few old school colours ties and blazers tend to appear! Old Boys' ties are appropriate too.

Saturday 4th June 2022 - Morning.

Bereavement

Jay Scaife (1999 - 2000)

Sadly, Jay passed away on 3rd April after a twenty-month battle with cancer.
In recent years Jay has run his own building company. He is survived by his wife Michaela and sons Ollie (7) and Charlie (4).
We have extended the sympathy of Old Boys to Jay's family.

Regards

Grant Harper
President
