Dear Old Boys,

What a blast from the past! It was so good to have so many Old Boys back at Rathkeale for the Ten Decades On Reunions at Queen’s Birthday Weekend.
Thanks to the hard work of this year’s Facilitators, it was excellent to be able to welcome back leavers from 68,78,88 and 2008.
Many travelled from afar including Macau, Papua New Guinea, Australia, America and Europe to catch up with friends, walk the old paths, visit old haunts and to gain a fresh perspective on their old school.
On behalf of the ROBA Committee, I thank everyone who made the weekend the tangible success it was. We now look forward to your return in 2028!

Auckland Gathering

Remember the ROBA gathering at the Royal NZ Yacht Squadron on the evening Tuesday 12 June, ie. next week. Martin O’Grady, the new Principal will be in attendance as will Patron, John Taylor, Old Boy staff member Blair Ewington and myself. We certainly look forward to being back up in the Big Smoke and it is great to hear that 43 have already indicated that they will be attending! Entry fee for food $10.00.

Obituary – Aidan Midgley (1967-1971)

Aiden was a colourful agreeable and popular member of his year group at school. His ready smile, athletic prowess and twirl of his drum sticks will be well remembered. Following a career in Hospitality Management and very significant involvement with cycling and international bike touring, Aidan was living in Bussleton, Western Australia, at the time of his sudden death on January 5 this year. Our thoughts are with his brothers, Mother and wider family.

Christ’s College Exchange

On a cold bleak Christchurch day this Monday our teams were well supported by about thirty hardy Old Boys – well done!

Hockey win to Christ’s 2-1

The B.G. & D.G. Hamilton Pewter Tankard continues to reside at Christs’ following a very competitive exchange.
